Plastic prices fall sharply across all grades

Monday 06 July 2009 Plastics News

The price being paid for recovered plastic material has fallen by as much as £40 per tonne across all grades, with lower quality material among the worst affected, following increased inspection and import controls in the Far East.

However, operators have claimed that they do not expect the drop to be as severe as in late 2008 - and predicted that the problem is likely to only be short-term.

In particular, the sharp fall in price is said to have affected lower quality plastic material, such as contaminated film, carrier bags and mixed plastics, such as yoghurt pots.

Why pay for fresh air?

10TH JANUARY 2009

Many waste producers are sending substantial quantities of waste packaging to landfill that can be easily recycled, saving money and benefiting the environment.

Even if particular waste streams cannot be recycled, it is essential to reduce the volume of the waste produced there by enabling the best efficiency from the collections made.

Enviroquip supply a range of both static and mobile waste compaction systems that are available for rental or purchase that can compact waste by a ratio of up to 7 to 1, dependent on the waste type. By arranging for a free site survey Enviroquip can start saving your organisation money now.
